Kathy’s House Welcomes Kim Lamansky as President & CEO
Milwaukee, WI
Established Nonprofit Leader Relocates to Milwaukee for New Challenge
The Kathy’s House board of directors is pleased to announce that Kim Lamansky has joined the organization as its new President & CEO. Lamansky brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit management, community partnerships, and strategic growth. As President & CEO, she will collaborate with the nine-person staff, board of directors and many volunteers to advance the organization’s mission of providing affordable lodging and supportive services for patients and families who must travel to Milwaukee for medical care.
“After an extensive six-month search, we were highly impressed with Kim’s leadership capabilities, breadth of experience working with vulnerable populations, strategic vision and passion for community work,” said Board Chair Mark Filla. “She is an excellent fit for our mission and values.” Filla noted that Kathy’s House expects demand for its services to grow as treatment for cancer and other serious diagnoses is increasingly provided on an outpatient basis. Lamansky succeeds Patty Metropulos, who led Kathy’s House for 11 years and who announced her plans to step down last summer. Lamansky’s most recent role was as executive director of Tri City Health Partnership, a free medical and dental clinic in St. Charles, Illinois. Prior to that, she served as President & CEO of the Shorewood, Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
About Kathy’s House:
Founded in 2001, Kathy’s House is a nonprofit hospital guest house that provides affordable lodging and caring support in a “home away from home” environment for people who need to travel to Milwaukee for medical care. Open 365 days a year, it is the only such facility in southeastern Wisconsin that serves patients of all ages, their families and caregivers, and accepts referrals from all area hospitals. Annually, Kathy’s House serves approximately 1,500 guests; roughly half are patients and half are family members. Most are cancer patients, and more than 70 percent live in Wisconsin. Kathy’s House was founded in 2001 by the parents of Kathy Vogel Kuettner, a local mother of three and cancer patient. She had deep empathy for fellow patients who had to travel to Milwaukee to access care and faced illness without the support of nearby family and friends. Kathy died in 2000 but her wish to help others lives on.
